The remainder of the session time is dedicated to open group discussion, allowing for deeper exploration and exchange of insights. Moderator: Michael H. Allen, MD (read bio) Description: There is a movement to expand crisis services being driven by the implementation of 988, the national Suicide and Mental Health Crisis Line. It is widely understood that 988 cannot realize its potential without the simultaneous development of related crisis services including mobile crisis, crisis respite, non-hospital urgent ambulatory “walk in” clinics and non-hospital crisis stabilization units. These are expected to avoid 911 and law enforcement and divert lower intensity crises while continuing to use hospital services including observation units for appropriate patients. This session will address questions of service design and patient selection. It will touch on issues of medical complexity and staffing. Discussion will focus on member involvement with local programs and perceptions of their strengths and weaknesses. About the series: This free webinar series is a moderator led monthly virtual forum for AEEP members to discuss important and interesting topics in the field of Emergency Psychiatry. Webinars are recorded and will be available to members in AAEP's online learning center. 2024 Webinar Series Schedule:
